Project description: The city of Springfield’s newest two-bay fire station will house three shifts of four crew members and accommodate the needs of fire personnel in a low-maintenance facility. The singlestory structure is LEED certified and uses a wood frame for the residential bay and concrete masonry for the apparatus bay, all with a brick exterior. The project is funded by the city’s level property tax. Architects are Esterly Schneider & Associates Inc., project; Boarman Kroos Vogel Group Inc. (Minneapolis, Minnesota), design; and frankZdesign LLC, landscape. Engineers are Anderson Engineering Inc., civil; Boarman Kroos Vogel Group, structural; and RTM Engineering Consultants LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
