Project description: The two-story addition for Nixa Public Schools’ performing arts center features an 1,100-seat auditorium with a stage, orchestra pit, catwalk, set-building shop, storage, media room, concession/ticket office, lobby, restrooms and elevator. Renovation work includes converting existing spaces into a band room, choir room and drama lab. The building is constructed of concrete slab on precast concrete and elevated concrete slabs on steel columns and beams. Dake Wells Architecture Inc. designed the project, and engineering work is by Mettemeyer Engineering LLC, structural; Shaffer & Hines Inc., civil; True Engineering LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing; and Terracon Consultants Inc., geotechnical.
An updated Lawrence County Health Department facility is under construction in a new development area on the south side of Mount Vernon, according to project officials.
