2024 40 Under 40: Hannah Porter

Walnut Grove Schools

Posted online

Hannah Porter’s career embodies leadership and dedication to youth development within Greene County. Beginning her journey as a correctional officer, Porter saw a critical need for early intervention, leading her to a role at the Greene County Juvenile Office. There, she helped develop a diversion unit, assisting youth under the age of 18 and their families by providing resources and interventions.

In 2023, Porter, 31, became a pre-K-12 guidance counselor at Walnut Grove R-V School District, her alma mater. The work, she says, allows her to address the unique challenges faced by students in small, rural schools – significantly expanding her impact. Porter also volunteers with Greene County’s Girls Empowering Minds and Spirits program and as chair of the countywide suicide prevention network.
