Mid-Continent Public Library Liberty Branch
Liberty
Sapp Design Associates Architects PC and Helix Architecture & Design Inc. (Kansas City) designed the new 18,500-square-foot Liberty Branch library with a community programming room, enclosed meeting/study rooms, and teen and children’s areas. Officials say construction of the $5.7 million library is tentatively scheduled to begin later this year. Funded by the passage of Proposition L in 2016, the Mid-Continent Public Library system is investing $113 million to enhance its libraries. JE Dunn Construction Co. is the general contractor with civil, structural and landscape engineering work by Olsson Inc., and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering by True Engineering Group LLC. The project is slated for completion in spring 2020.
Plaza Shopping Center gained an arcade with the March 1 opening of The Flying Lap LLC; the repurposing of space operated by Burrell Behavioral Health resulted in the March 18 opening of the company’s second autism center; and a group of downtown business owners teamed up to reopen J.O.B. Public House.
