Springfield craft brewing concept targets late June opening

A new brewery and eatery concept from a handful of industry veterans is underway in east Springfield.

Doug Riddle, one of the four owners, said a late June opening is targeted for Before and After Brewing LLC. It's located at 2940 E. Sunshine St. in the Southern Hills Shopping Center. He’s teaming up with the former head brewer at Mother’s Brewing Co., Dave Soper.

"We launched it because the idea for the business has been fleshed out for a couple of years, and the timing was right for all of us," Riddle said via Facebook Messenger. "We also wanted to have a place that has all the things we like."

Before and After Brewing's Facebook page indicates the concept is a "neighborhood vibe spot with coffee, cocktails, N/A drinks, small food plates & happens to brew beer." The company LLC was registered with the Missouri secretary of state office in July 2022.

Riddle said he and Soper own the establishment with Brent and Marci Sonnemaker. Among other career experiences together, Riddle co-founded Rountree restaurant Team Taco with Brent Sonnemaker, and he previously worked in brewing with Soper at Mother's Brewing.

The home of Before and After Brewing, Southern Hills Shopping Center, is undergoing improvements through a transportation development district, according to past reporting.
