In the same shopping center that recently lost Big Fat Burritos, south-side pizza shop WannaGetta Pizza is slated to close Friday.
Owner David Tibbles declined to comment but confirmed the closure, which was announced Nov. 26 on Facebook. The business operates at 3302 S. National Ave. in the Medical Mile Plaza.
“It’s been a good run, but unfortunately we will be closing at the end of November. We are still proud to be one of the top-rated pizzerias in town,” the Facebook post reads.
WannaGetta Pizza’s customer rating on Facebook is 4.8 out of 5 stars based on 170 reviews. Its Google rating is 4.4 out of 5 based on 128 reviews, with 4.5 out of 5 on TripAdvisor via 54 reviews and 3.5 out of 5 on Yelp based on 27 reviews.
Tibbles purchased the restaurant in 2014 from its original owners, who launched the business in 2003, according to the Springfield News-Leader and the company’s website.
The original organizer of the company was Susan Gann, according to Missouri secretary of state records.
WannaGetta Pizza’s website advertises thin wheat crust pizza, sandwiches and salads.
The pizza shop is around the corner from Big Fat Burritos, another fan favorite in the Medical Mile Plaza that closed last month.
The 135,000-square-foot shopping center previously known as Kelly Plaza was purchased in 2013 by LG III LLC, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
Moseley’s Discount Office Products was purchased; Side Chick opened in Branson; and the Springfield franchise store of NoBaked Cookie Dough changed ownership.
