U.S. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer asked the FBI and the Federal Trade Commission to investigate photo app FaceApp over national security and privacy concerns.
In a letter to the FBI and FTC, Schumer said the face-editing photo app developed in Russia requires “full and irrevocable access to their personal photos and data." He said that could pose “national security and privacy risks for millions of U.S. citizens."
The viral smartphone app has seen a new wave of popularity because of a filter that ages users' faces.
