The Greater Springfield Board of Realtors today announced the eight members of its second Leadership Academy.
Modeled after similar programs operated by Missouri Realtors and the National Association of Realtors, the GSBOR academy works with local real estate agents to help them grow their careers by talking with legislators, as well as boards and associations statewide, according to a news release.
“The Leadership Academy will teach the members skills they can use in both their business and personal lives. The intention is to cultivate future leaders for our GSBOR committees and, eventually, the board of directors,” GSBOR spokeswoman Rachel Lambert said via email. “Six of the eight 2018 graduates have been elected to a director spot on either the 2019 GSBOR or Springfield MLS boards of directors.”
The members of the 2019 Leadership Academy class, in alphabetical order, are:
• Griffin Bobbett, OneSource Realty;
• Sara Brodersen, Coldwell Banker Vanguard;
• Yvonne Burdette-Van Camp, Southwest Missouri Realty;
• Doug Collins, Re/Max House of Brokers;
• Blake Cook, Century 21 Integrity Group;
• Kelley Jacobson, Murney Associates, Realtors;
• Liz Lawyer, Murney Associates, Realtors; and
• Darin Peterson, Century 21 Peterson Real Estate.
Data from Missouri Realtors, a trade organization that represents nearly 20,000 real estate agents throughout the state, show members of its leadership academies are better positioned for future career opportunities, according to the release.
The data included state that:
• 96 percent of graduates went on to hold an officer position with their local board or association;
• 88 percent became involved in the state association;
• 72 percent became involved in nonprofits;
• 32 percent became involved with the National Association of Realtors;
• 19 percent became involved in their city government; and
• 9 percent became elected officials within their city.
