The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development issued $1.07 million in grants to a group of organizations collectively known as the Ozarks Alliance to End Homelessness.
The alliance, a continuum-of-care program, comprises Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri, Great Circle, Harmony House, Housing Authority of Springfield, the Missouri Department of Mental Health and The Kitchen Inc. The city of Springfield also received grant funding to implement homeless and housing services, according to a news release.
“This funding is crucial to direct-service agencies in our community, but more importantly to the individuals and families they serve. This year’s awards will not only maintain current housing programs but will also expand housing services available to victims of domestic violence,” said Amanda Stadler, coordinator of the continuum of care at Community Partnership of the Ozarks, in the release. “In addition to providing housing and supportive services, this funding will also help ensure we have a systematic and cohesive response to homelessness across our community.”
Of the funding, The Kitchen received the most, at $668,985.
The federal funds go toward providing services and resources for homeless people in Greene, Christian and Webster counties, according to the release.
