The city of Branson is auctioning off the contents of the shuttered White House Theatre to make way for a planned Police headquarters.
Melton Auction & Realty LLC has been hired as the auctioneer for the June 16 sale at 2255 Gretna Road, according to a news release.
Melody Pettit, communications manager for the city, said the municipality does not have a projection on proceeds from the auction. The plan, she said, is for the proceeds to go toward the renovation of the property for use by the Branson Police Department. The city's board of aldermen last year approved the purchase of the 65,000-square-foot building for $2.5 million, according to past reporting.
The contents of the auction this week include commercial kitchen appliances and supplies; theater furniture; electronics and office equipment; and miscellaneous items such as props, decor and sinks. The building also operated as a conference center.
For the Branson Police Department headquarters project, Pettit said Hoefer Welker LLC is on board as the project architect. An estimated opening for the headquarters is not yet determined, she said.
The White House Theatre has not promoted major productions since 2019, according to past reporting.
