Branco wins multimillion-dollar MSU contract

Posted online

Branco Enterprises Inc. got the nod from the Missouri State University Board of Governors to construct an addition to the McQueary Family Health Sciences Hall.

MSU spokeswoman Andrea Mostyn confirmed the board yesterday approved Branco as general contractor for the project that has a total budget of $6.3 million.

Branco submitted the low bid of $4.6 million for the project, which includes a base bid of $4.3 million and four alternates, according to the board’s agenda.

The project calls on the addition of two tiered classrooms, together totaling 315 seats, four faculty offices, restrooms and storage space. The expansion is scheduled for completion prior to the fall 2020 semester.

The McQueary Family Health Sciences Hall expansion is financed by private donations and university funds and reserves, according to the agenda.

In October 2018, the McQueary family pledged an undisclosed, naming-level donation for the 606 E. Cherry St. facility, which is home to MSU’s department of physical therapy and the master of public health program. The donation funds a lecture room and classroom addition, as well as student scholarships and faculty support, Springfield Business Journal previously reported.
