A tabletop game about drunk ducks is coming to the market by way of the Queen City.
Hebanon Games owner Caleb Stokes’ Kickstarter campaign for his new project called Party Fowl: The Game of Drunk Ducks ended successfully today. The board game brought in $17,687 — ahead of a $14,000 goal — via 430 backers.
It’s great to see another successful venture for Stokes, a Galena High School English teacher who’s now been involved in a handful of successful Kickstarter campaigns for tabletop games. His last game, Red Markets, earned $72,248, above a $12,000 goal.
Party Fowl appears to be a much more lighthearted game than Stokes’ previous ventures. Also the co-host of The Mixed Six Podcast with Spencer Harris, Stokes’ game is a “direct result of their drunken ramblings,” according to the Kickstarter page.
The game is designed as a modular control bout “where the goal is to be the coolest duck at a party.”
I didn’t back this project — read my views on Kickstarter here — but it’s one I’ll be keeping an eye on when it releases.
The artwork alone, with ducks characterized as drunken humans, is worth checking out.
“We're going to take a day and celebrate, and then get back to work on this thing,” Harris wrote on the Kickstarter page.
Cheers, Stokes, Harris and team! You’ve earned the celebration.
