Douglas County and its seat, Ava, were selected for a combined $1.3 million in state grants.
The county is set to receive $653,550, while the city of Ava secured $646,188 in funding, according to a news release. The funding is part of nearly $11 million in Community Development Block Grant Program awards announced by the Missouri Department of Economic Development to assist with various improvement projects.
“Maintaining infrastructure is vital to keeping Missourians safe and communities strong,” Gov. Mike Parson said in the release. “The Community Development Block Grant Program is another way we’re investing in critical infrastructure and improving public safety statewide. These grants are funding projects that benefit communities’ well-being while increasing their capacity for future economic growth.”
Douglas County's funding is earmarked for maintenance shed improvements, while Ava is slated to use its grant for street rehabilitation and improvements.
