Arcola, Branson West picked for drinking water grants

Posted online

The cities of Arcola and Branson West are recent recipients of state drinking water grants to the tune of $80,000 combined.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources separately announced grants of $50,000 and $30,000 for Branson West and Arcola, respectively.

The funds are slated to be used by the cities to evaluate their public wastewater system for possible improvements, according to a news release.

“An important part of our work is helping Missouri communities maintain and improve their aging wastewater systems,” said Dru Buntin, director of the Department of Natural Resources, in the release. “One way we do that is by offering financial assistance through programs like the Clean Water Engineering Report Grant. Through this and other available programs, we help protect public and environmental health and improve the quality of life for Missourians.”

The city of Stockton recently was chosen for a $30,000 grant through the program, according to past reporting.
