Ozarks Food Harvest’s Empty Bowls fundraiser set a record $8,326 in donations through the sale of 300 handcrafted bowls in partnership with Panera Bread. Sidewalk for Students
Construction workers smooth ground beside a new sidewalk near Nixa Junior High. Two years ago, the school’s science club reached out to Nixa Mayor Brian Steele to request a safer pathway to walk to and from school. The sidewalk was added to the list of capital improvement projects in the city’s 2017 budget.

Nixa Public Schools Superintendent Stephen Kleinsmith is “roasted,” as he prepares to retire at the end of the school year. Nixa Education Foundation’s Oct. 14 fundraiser – dubbed, “Dr. K – the man, the myth, the legend” – raised about $51,000, and Central Bank of the Ozarks pledged matching funds of up to $25,000.
