JQH Down
Springfield Sign crews June 3 remove the JQH lettering from Missouri State University’s campus arena. School officials days earlier announced the plan to take down signage representing John Q. Hammons’ defunct naming rights deal. Prior to his death in 2013, Hammons had pledged $30 million toward the $67 million arena. In bankruptcy court proceedings last year, Hammons’ assets went to JD Holdings LLC and officials there agreed to pay MSU $10 million to walk away from the deal. Officials estimate the removal process to cost $20,750. The naming rights are now available.
