An Ozark subdivision is among the hardest hit areas in last night’s storms.
City officials say a tornado is believed to have touched down in the Waterford subdivision around 8:40 p.m., damaging some 100 homes and severely damaging two dozen. Additionally, several vehicles were severely damaged, and three people were transported to the hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, according to a news release from the city of Ozark.
Below is a video posted this morning by Jason Preston, owner of 417 Drone Imaging LLC, of the aftermath of the storm in the Waterford subdivision, located about 2 miles east of Lambert’s Cafe on State Highway NN in Ozark.
Ozark Police Department officers currently are posted at each entrance of the subdivision to prevent looting, according to the release.
In Springfield, damage was much less severe.
A news release from City Utilities of Springfield indicates east Springfield, near the U.S. Highway 60 and Farm Road 213 intersection, was the most impacted. At least 20 poles were broken, along with damage to other utility structures, and under 250 customers were left without power as of 11:30 p.m. last night.
The Rogersville area also was among those hit, according to a Facebook post from city officials.
“The city of Rogersville would like to express our sincerest prayers for our community as we begin and continue to deal with, clean up from and rebuild after the devastating storms and tornados that tore through our community last night,” the post reads.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
