Two more sentenced in theft of guns meant for Bass Pro

Two more Texas men were added to a group of co-defendants who have been sentenced for their roles in the theft of hundreds of guns meant for Bass Pro Shops.

Raynord Hunt, 36, and Keith Lowe, 29, both of Dallas, were sentenced to eight years and four months and six years, respectively, in federal prison on June 21, according to a news release issued this morning by the office of Tim Garrison, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

The men admitted to stealing cargo shipped from Accokeek, Maryland-based Beretta USA Corp. to Springfield, where it was held in UPS trailers as it was en route to Bass Pro. They also admitted to possessing the stolen guns.

Four other Texas co-defendants, Quinton Haywood, Frank McChriston, and Derrick and Eric White, each were sentenced last month to more than seven years in federal prison for their roles in the October 2017 theft, according to the release.

Each of the defendants have been ordered to pay $206,132 in restitution for their crimes.

The defendants stole 654 guns, including 600 handguns, from UPS trailers that were parked in a Springfield freight lot. While the trailers had been parked together to prevent access, the thieves hot-wired two of the trucks to push and pull various trailers around the lot to gain access. Fifty-four shotguns also were taken, according to the release.
