Springfield Walmart employees share $1M in bonuses

Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) paid more than $1.1 million in fiscal fourth-quarter bonuses to Springfield-area employees, according to a spokeswoman for the company.

In total, Walmart’s employees in Missouri received $5.8 million in bonuses for the fourth quarter that ended Jan. 31, 2019, according to data provided by spokeswoman Abigail Rolland of The Hauser Group Inc. in St. Louis. The number of employees in the Springfield area was not made available by deadline, and Walmart employs 41,399 in Missouri.

“Our Missouri associates are key to providing customers with the shopping experience they want,” said Terry Nannie, Walmart vice president and regional general manager in Missouri, in a news release. “We are honored to reward the hard work and dedication of our associates as they strive to make every day easier for busy families.”

On 4.2 percent comparable stores growth in the fourth quarter, Walmart issued nearly $207 million in cash bonuses to some 912,000 U.S. workers. The bonuses are based on store performance.

For the full fiscal year, Walmart’s employees received nearly $800 million in bonuses, with Missourians bringing home more than $20 million of the total, according to the release.

$5.8 Million in bonuses for 41,399 employees. $140 per employee from the largest retailer in the world. I guess it is better than nothing.
