The Rock
The Rock opened June 10 as the second anchor tenant for the $14 million Quarry Town development in Galloway Village, 4018 S. Lone Pine Ave. The restaurant and bar concept by Tim and Jennifer Bair, the owners of Bair’s Sports Grill, is inspired by landmarks, such as Stone Chapel at Drury University and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, which used stone quarried from the Ozarks. Tim Bair said project architect was Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective, with infill work by H.C. Rogers Construction Group. Its opening was preceded in the mixed-use development by the December 2018 launch of Great Escape Beer Works LLC, an adjacent two-story brewery. Tim Bair declined to disclose startup costs for the roughly 2,900-square-foot restaurant, which has burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads and soups on the menu. The Bairs signed a 10-year lease with a pair of five-year options with Green Circle Projects LLC at an undisclosed rate.

Dominion Financial Group LLC
Independent registered investment advisory firm Dominion Financial Group LLC opened Jan. 21 in the South National Office Plaza. At 4650 S. National Ave., Ste. D-4, the two-employee firm provides financial planning services, said owner Elton Norman. Startup costs and lease terms for the 1,920-square-foot space were not disclosed. After 21 years of service in the U.S. Army, Norman retired from the military in 2013 and began working in the financial industry, including a stint as a financial adviser with Merrill Lynch. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice administration from Columbia Southern University in Alabama, as well as an MBA and a master’s in finance from Webster University. Norman is also an adjunct professor with Webster, teaching business, finance and management courses.

OssoBuco Italian American Bistro
Following the May closure of Frida Mexican Cuisine and Bar at 1410 E. Republic Road, OssoBuco Italian American Bistro began operations June 4 in the same space. Restaurateur Angel Kim, who was a silent partner in Frida, is a co-owner of the new venture with Blake Haury and Javier Olguin. Its menu features pastas, including lobster ravioli and eggplant parmesan, along with fish and chicken dishes, soups and salads. Entree prices range $10-$30. Eighteen employees staff the Italian fine-dining eatery, which is also the site of Kim’s former Argentina Steakhouse. “We absolutely love that location,” Kim said, pointing to a need for more specialty restaurants in Springfield. Kim said remodeling work of the space cost around $30,000, and he’s leasing the property for undisclosed terms from Rob Wilson, president and CEO of Rapid Robert’s Inc. Kim also owns The Hill and ReRico Brazilian Grill.
