Open for Business: Martin’s Press LLC

Posted online

Martin’s Press LLC
Tom Martin rebranded his print shop at 1404 S. Glenstone Ave. on Aug. 1, 2017, after 25 years as a Minuteman Press franchisee. Martin said his JT Martin Enterprises LLC stayed in place as he changed his dba to Martin’s Press LLC. He hired Nebraska-based PrinterPresence to build a new website and Signs Now for new signage, for a total investment of less than $7,000. The name change allows Martin to end an undisclosed monthly franchise fee based on sales. Martin’s four employees provide digital and press printing such as letterhead, envelopes, numbered forms, posters, banners and bound booklets, as well as copying and layout design. The shop has operated in the Glenstone Center at Bennett Street since its founding, he said. Martin, a Missouri State University College of Business graduate, bought the Minuteman Press store in May 1992, with his father Ken Martin who died in 2013.

Kate Spade New York
Kate Spade New York opened an outlet store on Thanksgiving Day 2017 at 300 Tanger Blvd., Ste. 545, in Tanger Outlets in Branson. Assistant Manager Kaitlyn Giblin said she transferred from Tanger’s Coach store – owned by the same parent company, Tapestry Inc. (NYSE: TPR) – and store leader Laura Leonardo moved across the outdoor mall from Ann Taylor. The new store sits between Asics and Talbots, she said, selling high-end women’s fashion accessories and clothing – specializing in $79-$199 handbags. There are five full-time managers, Giblin said, plus about 20 part-time employees. Kate Spade is the first permanent tenant in the 3,000-square-foot unit since it was built in 2014 as part of a 25,000-square-foot expansion, said Tanger General Manager Jamie Whiteis. The center is owned by North Carolina-based Tanger Properties Limited Partnership, a subsidiary of Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. (NYSE: SKT), he said. The Kate Spade brand, founded in 1993, has 140 stores in the United States, according to its website.

Scooter’s Coffee
John
and Mary Rolf on Dec. 20 launched their second in a series of five planned Scooter’s Coffee shops in a new building at 3265 E. Sunshine St. The married couple’s JMBSR Enterprises LLC introduced Springfield to the Nebraska-based franchise Sept. 15, 2017, with the opening of their first 450-square-foot, drive thru-only concept at 2930 S. Campbell Ave. Each small, stand-alone building serves coffee, tea, smoothies and breakfast foods, Mary Rolf said, and is strategically placed so the most morning commuters pass it. The latest shop, designed by Hood-Rich Inc. with construction by Branco Enterprises Inc., features a walkup window and patio seating, she said. Katy Knotts moved from the Campbell Avenue location to manage the 10 employees on Sunshine Street, Rolf said. The next location is planned for Nixa, she said, followed by two more in Springfield by the end of 2019.
