Open for Business: Greek Belly LLC

Posted online

Greek Belly LLC
After numerous delays in its planned opening date of spring 2017, Greek Belly LLC on July 5 opened its doors downtown. Owner John Tsahiridis said building inspection delays contributed to general contractor Nesbitt Construction Inc. not being able to start infill work until late February this year at the 320 E. Walnut St. spot. The 2,000-square-foot restaurant sells gyros, falafel, hummus and other Greek cuisine. The former general manager of Galloway Station Bar & Grill, Tsahiridis has 25 years of restaurant experience. Estimated renovation costs for the space, which previously housed Albatross Hookah Lounge & Fine Tobacco Emporium, were $75,000, according to Springfield Building Development Services records. Tsahiridis operated the business at festivals and through catering while the building work was ongoing. He signed a five-year lease last year for undisclosed terms with building owner Nick Sibley.
