Best of Luck Beer Hall
The latest venture for Good Spirits Concepts LLC, Best of Luck Beer Hall, began operations Feb. 8. The European athletic club-themed bar occupies 3,500 square feet in the rear of the building Zayka Indian Cuisine restaurant leases at 313 S. Jefferson Ave. It was formerly Mille’s Cafe and Coyote’s Adobe Cafe & Bar, but Good Spirits co-owner Jim Wilson’s JJJ Development LLC purchased the 9,300-square-foot property in June 2018. Around 32 beers are on tap at Best of Luck, Wilson said, along with a specialty cocktail and food menu, including burgers, bratwurst, oysters and a butternut kale melt sandwich. Wilson said lunch will be served, beginning later this month. Mixing drink, food and games, the space has arcade machines and an indoor synthetic grass court for playing cornhole, bocce ball and washers. Good Spirits, co-owned by Josh Widner, also operates Scotch & Soda, Golden Girl Rum Club and Cherry Picker Package and Fare.

Moon Town Crossing
North Springfield has a new event venue with the arrival of Moon Town Crossing, 3060 N. Kentwood Ave., at the northwest corner of Interstate 44 and Glenstone Avenue. Its Jan. 13 open house, which will be a monthly event, introduced Moon Town to the public even as construction continues at the craftsman-style event space, said Cassidy Palmer, sales and operations manager. “The inside of the building is almost completely done, except for the flooring,” Palmer said, adding construction is scheduled to finish by early April. Wooden beams for the barn-like structure were made at Ozark Timber Frame’s Amish community in El Dorado Springs and shipped to the development site in Springfield. A city building permit identified an estimated cost of $334,764 for Moon Town Crossing, which is owned by O’Reilly Hospitality CEO Tim O’Reilly’s Glen44 Investments LLC. O’Reilly Hospitality manages the property. The venue currently hosts weekly yoga classes, Palmer said, and also books weddings and corporate events.

Library Express West
The state’s first automated 24-hour library kiosk opened Feb. 6 in the Orchard Plaza shopping center, 3872 W. Chestnut Expressway. Dubbed Library Express West, the outdoor kiosk can be used by anyone with a valid Springfield-Greene County Library card. The kiosk, which dispenses books, DVDs, music CDs and audiobooks, is funded via a $199,865 grant from the Friends of the Library and a $40,000 Library Services and Technology Act grant through the Missouri State Library, said library district spokeswoman Kathleen O’Dell. The library district leases the lot space for $300 per month from property owner Young Jin Choe. It also funds the annual maintenance and utilities cost. Library Express West’s collection of around 340 items will provide many of the services offered at the library district’s 10 brick-and-mortar branches. O’Dell said the project came about in response to requests by west-side residents for a more conveniently located library branch.
