Nonprofit leaders release new books

Two Springfield nonprofit leaders penned new books.

Alvin Rohrs, the former longtime CEO of Enactus, and Hal Donaldson, founder and CEO of humanitarian organization Convoy of Hope, are the authors, according to separate news releases.

Rohrs, who led Springfield-based Enactus for 34 years until his 2016 retirement from the nonprofit organization, on June 18 released his new book, “Become an Accelerator Leader: Accelerate Yourself, Others and Your Organization to Maximize Impact.” It’s published by Gatekeeper Press.

“People hold the power to make positive change,” Rohrs said in a news release. “My primary goal is to help them learn how to leverage it to accelerate progress for themselves, for others and their organizations. These are practical principles that apply to life at home and at the office.”

For the book, Rohrs drew on his Enactus experience working with more than 500 companies, including Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) and The Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO). The nonprofit Enactus connects student, academic and business leaders through entrepreneurial-based projects around the world.

Donaldson’s book, called “Disruptive Compassion: Becoming The Revolutionary You Were Born To Be,” is scheduled to be released July 9, according to a separate release.

“Hopefully, this book will help you discover what you were born to do and equip you to confront the status quo through disruptive compassion,” said Donaldson, who has authored more than 30 books, in the release. “I know that ‘change the world’ sounds like a campaign slogan. We’ve heard it repeated until we no longer believe it’s achievable. In this book, ‘change the world’ denotes a direction rather than a destination.”

The book is being published by Zondervan, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing Inc.

Donaldson has led Convoy of Hope to serve more than 115 million people, according to the release. The nonprofit provides disaster assistance, food programs and other services.
