Architecture
Zachary Cole
and Lauren Southard joined Esterly, Schneider & Associates Inc. as architectural interns. Cole earned a master’s from Drury University’s Hammons School of Architecture and has worked part time with the company since May 2017. Southard also completed a master’s from Drury’s Hammons School of Architecture.

Banking & Finance
Karen Hall
was named to the Central Bank of Branson Advisory Board. Recently retiring after 45 years in the industry, Hall had served as a senior vice president and commercial lender for the bank.

Linda Grindle, financial sales representative at Arvest Bank, was promoted to community lender. She focuses on mortgages and consumer loans and primarily covers the areas of Kimberling City and Branson West.

Education
College of the Ozarks’ student newscast “The Point” won a Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. The newscast won the national award in broadcast news videography for its story Solar Eclipse, produced by sophomore Ben Johnson and C of O alumnus Jordan Davis.

Evangel University honored professor Robert Berg with its E.M. & Estella Clark Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Service. A New York native, he began teaching at EU in 1989 and serves as a New Testament professor.

Evangel awarded Dianne Twigger with the Orville & Jewel Mills Young Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Service. Twigger is a 2006 mathematics graduate of the university who returned to teach at the school in 2013.

Government
Susan Jensen
, family court commissioner of the 31st Judicial Circuit Court, was named president of the Missouri Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Representing more than 1,650 academy fellows, Jensen has practiced family law for the past 25 years.

Health Care
Massage therapist Melissa Perry was named regional therapist of the year by Scottsdale-Arizona-based Massage Envy. The award denotes professionalism, client care and a devotion to wellness. Perry works at Massage Envy’s east Springfield franchise location.

Cox South, Cox Branson and Cox Monett were awarded Get with the Guidelines awards from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. The awards reflect the hospitals’ quality achievement measures in diagnosing and treating stroke patients.

Hospitality
Travis Meeks
joined The Order restaurant at Hotel Vandivort as executive chef. Meeks is an Aurora native and worked in Kansas City, with chefs Jonathan Justus and Michael Smith.

Nonprofit
Champion Athletes of the Ozarks named Vaughn Henson to its board of directors, with no term limits. Henson works as general manager of SRC Logistics Inc.

The Community Alternative Sentencing Program elected Lance Roskens, Patti Salinas and Branden Twibell to three-year terms on its board of directors. Roskens is an attorney with Clithero & Harris LLP. Salinas is an associate professor of criminology and criminal justice at Missouri State University, and Twibell is an attorney at Twibell Johnson.

The Junior League of Springfield awarded Akila Anandarajah and Grace Fairchild with its 2018 Mary Riley Wolfe Memorial Scholarship. Anandarajah, a 2018 National Merit Finalist of Central High School, has volunteered over 400 hours at Mercy Hospital, the Springfield Library Center and the Boys and Girls Club. Fairchild has served for three years as Aurora High School’s student council class president, also volunteering at Convoy of Hope and the Special Olympics, among others.

The U.S. Department of the Interior added the Wilson’s Creek Greenway to the National Recreation Trail system. It’s the fourth trail with the designation in the Ozarks Greenways system. The 5-mile trail runs from Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park to Republic Road in southwest Springfield, also connecting to the South Creek Greenway.
