Piatchek & Associates Inc. promoted Kenny Gott to president. He previously served as executive vice president and will continue to provide investment advisory services. Founder and former President John Piatchek will continue to provide life insurance and business consulting services.

Education
The National Speech & Debate Association chose Greenwood Laboratory School’s Heather Walters as its 2017-18 Missouri Educator of the Year for building leadership and critical thinking skills in her students. To be selected, educators must have at least five years of experience, provide mentorship to the speech and debate community, and model the NSDA Coach Code of Ethics.

Nixa High School earned first place in both the Jefferson and Madison divisions at The Missouri Bar’s annual Show Me the Constitution competition. More than 75 high school students across the state participated in two competitions; the other was called We the People.

The College Board named Nixa Public Schools to its eighth annual Advanced Placement District Honor Roll. Nearly 450 school districts were recognized in the United States and Canada for increasing access to AP coursework while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP exams.

Entrepreneurism
Talent-booking agency GigSalad earned the No. 15 ranking on the 2017 Entrepreneur 360 list. The magazine evaluates four metrics – impact, innovation, growth and leadership – of the companies that apply.

Health Care
Citizens Memorial Healthcare appointed family nurse practitioner Daniel Ferguson to the CMH Neurology Clinic and Missouri Memory Center. His practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of neurology conditions, ranging from Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s disease. Ferguson has previous experience as a registered nurse at CoxHealth and Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

The Castlewood Senior Living received a 2018 Best Assisted Living Award from SeniorLiving.com, which rates and reviews senior care and service providers based on online reviews from resident seniors and their families. The facility in Nixa is managed by Arrow Senior Living.

CoxHealth’s ambulatory and outpatient services achieved Stage 6 in the transition to electronic medical records, according to U.S. health systems tracking reports by HIMSS Analytics. Stage 6, which is the second to last stage from paper records, already had been reached at CoxHealth hospitals.

Hospitality
The Lodge of Four Seasons
at Lake of the Ozarks selected Scottsdale, Arizona-based Troon to manage the 358-room resort, as well as the two 18-hole golf courses at the property and its marina operations. Troon, which specializes in homeowner association management, private residence clubs, estate management and the associated hospitality venues, also oversees The Club at Porto Cima across the lake from The Lodge of Four Seasons.

Law Enforcement
The U.S. Department of Justice awarded the Springfield and Nixa police departments and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office a grant totaling $411,772. The funding will allow Nixa to update its record management system and Springfield-Greene County to become compliant with the National Incident-Based Reporting System used by the FBI.

Legal
Hamburg & Lyons LLC named Holly Clouse as a partner and renamed the firm as Hamburg, Lyons & Clouse LLC. An attorney with the firm for five years, she practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration/litigation, business succession planning, and business law/litigation.

Municipal
Two Springfield residents were sworn in for city committee appointments at the Dec. 11 City Council meeting: Mindy Spitz to the Tree City USA Citizen Advisory Committee and Gene Hartley on the Citizens Sales Tax Oversight Committee.

Nonprofit
The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association Mid-America Chapter hired Bre Corbett as development manager responsible for organizing Walk to Defeat ALS events in Springfield, Columbia and Joplin. She previously worked in business development for Great River Engineering Inc.

Community Partnership of the Ozarks Inc. recognized two entities at its 11th annual Neighborhood Organization Volunteer Awards ceremony: The Doling Neighborhood Association with an Innovation Award for creating a trailer for the neighborhood’s block party and Springfield’s Public Information Office with the Reaching for the Stars Award for developing SGF Neighborhood News.

Waverly, Nebraska-based Smart Chicken donated 6,800 pounds of frozen chicken to the Ozarks Food Harvest’s food bank through the company’s Feed the Hungry promotion. The chicken will go toward providing protein-rich meals to area children, families and seniors in need.
