MSU’s newly expanded health center earns perfect accreditation

Missouri State University’s Bill and Lucille Magers Family Health and Wellness Center received a perfect accreditation score seven months after a $13 million expansion was completed.

The center’s score marks the first perfect accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care in eight surveys since 1997. The AAAHC accredits more than 5,000 U.S. ambulatory health care organizations, referring to those that practice medicine in outpatient settings, according to a news release.

“We celebrate this pinnacle achievement together, not for self-pride, but rather for the confirmation that we are doing our professional best for the care and well-being of our patients,” said Dr. Dave Muegge, director of the center, in the release.

A recent AAAHC accreditation visit scored the Magers Family Health and Wellness Center on some 800 quality points, according to MSU officials.

MSU opened the expanded wellness center in April after an expansion project more than doubled its size to nearly 40,000 square feet. St. Louis-based K&S Associates Inc. was the general contractor for the project, which replaced an older building constructed in 1969, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting

It was renamed the Bill and Lucille Magers Family Health and Wellness Center after a donation from their sons, Bryan and Randy Magers. The wellness center’s features include a full-service pharmacy, travel clinic, 33 examination rooms and an on-site lab.
