The Missouri State University Board of Governors is scheduled to vote tomorrow on which general contractor will be awarded a Greenwood Laboratory School expansion project.
DeWitt & Associates Inc. submitted the low bid of $4.9 million for the Greenwood addition. The project has a total funding source of $6.4 million, according to the board’s May 16 agenda.
Six other companies are competing for the Greenwood project, with R.E. Smith Construction Co. submitting a $4.96 million bid, followed by Carson Mitchell Inc., $5.1 million; Branco Enterprises, $5.2 million; Crossland Construction, $5.3 million; Larry Snyder & Co., $5.5 million; and Bales Construction Co. Inc., $5.6 million.
Springfield Business Journal last month reported MSU was lining up funds for a 21,000-square-foot multipurpose Greenwood addition, including a new south entrance and adjacent lobby, a gymnasium with a performance stage and seating for up to 750 people. The addition is designed by BRP Architects.
The board agenda indicates $3.2 million is being funded through private donations, with the remainder coming from the university’s one-time reserves.
The plans mark the final phases of Greenwood improvements, which started with the addition of locker rooms in 2018, SBJ previously reported.
DeWitt & Associates recently was awarded a multimillion-dollar contract to renovate MSU’s Woods House residence hall.
