MSU board approves $11M Hill Hall renovation project

Posted online
The Missouri State University Board of Governors yesterday approved an $11 million renovation of its Hill Hall academic building on the Springfield campus.

MSU President Clif Smart yesterday confirmed the board’s approval during its executive committee meeting. He tweeted the project — $9.5 million of which will be funded through state bonds — would be finished by fall 2018.

Springfield-based Carson-Mitchell Inc. submitted the winning bid for the project of $8.4 million. Other bidders were Branco Enterprises Inc., at $8.5 million; K&S Associates Inc., at $8.56 million; DeWitt & Associates Inc., at $8.6 million; Bales Construction Co. Inc., at $8.7 million; and Crossland Construction Co. Inc., at $9.2 million, according to the board’s July 19 agenda.

The renovation of the 1924-constructed Hill Hall, 905 S. National Ave., includes new heating, ventilation, air conditioning and electrical distribution systems, improved accessibility for classrooms and offices, and work on the building’s fire suppression and fire alarm systems.
