Mid-Missouri Bank opened its new Mount Vernon branch at the former home of The Mountaineer restaurant.

The 300 E. Mount Vernon Blvd. branch opened June 25, and officials are planning a July 20 grand opening. Andrew Moore, director of marketing, said the bank consolidated two other Mid-Missouri Bank operations in downtown Mount Vernon, with both closing within days of the new branch’s opening.

Project costs for the branch constructed by DeWitt & Associates Inc. were not disclosed. The Mountaineer relocated to 101 N. Hickory St. in Mount Vernon and crews demolished the former restaurant, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

Moore said the new branch employs 17 and features an “experience center” with online and mobile banking devices provided for customers. Customers have access to free coffee in the lobby from Keen Bean Coffee Roasters, a Mount-Vernon based company.

“The banking industry is rapidly evolving. There is a reduced need for transactions and teller lines, and there is an increased need for guidance on banking with smart devices and financial education,” Mid-Missouri Bank President and Chief Operating Officer Brian Riedy said in a news release. “Our team receives the most up-to-date training and certification on a recurring basis in order to provide all of these services to our customers and prospective customers.”

Mid-Missouri Bank, chartered in 1872, operates 13 branches in 10 southwest Missouri communities. As of May 31, bank assets were $632 million, deposits were $520 million and loans were $494 million.
