Greene County wage growth outpaces most of nation in Q2

Among the 350 largest counties in the nation, Greene County’s wages grew faster than the vast majority of others during the second quarter of this calendar year, according to data released this morning by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

During the quarter ending June 30, average weekly wages in Greene County rose by 4.3 percent to $822. By percentage change, the county ranks No. 50 nationwide, according to a news release.

However, Greene’s wages were still below the rest of the major counties in Missouri.

Below are the counties, by wages, then wage growth rank nationwide, in the second quarter:
    •    County of St. Louis, $1,137, No. 7;
    •    City of St. Louis, which also is a county, $1,108, No. 313;
    •    Jackson, $1,061, No. 150;
    •    Clay, $916, tied for No. 112 with 3.5 percent growth;
    •    St. Charles, $847, tied for No. 112 with 3.5 percent growth;
    •    Boone, $835, No. 289; and
    •    Greene, $822, No. 50.

The U.S. average weekly wage rose by 3.4 percent to $1,055 in the second quarter, according to the release.
