Project description: The Ozark jewelry store is doubling in size and renovating its showroom, said owner Randy Mitchum. Just west of the state Highway 14 and U.S. Highway 65 interchange, Mitchum Jewelers built the free-standing building in 2007. Since then, the B&B Theatres multiplex and Big Whiskey’s American Restaurant and Bar have sprung up around it. Project designer Abbye Torgerson of Torgerson Design Partners said the 2,800-square-foot expansion incorporates new showroom space, while renovating 1,700 square feet of the existing showroom. The addition also comprises office space, a vault and a client consultation room, she said. “It was very important to Randy to honor his father, John’s, original design intent,” Torgerson said via email. “He wanted to improve what was already there while updating the entrance and the interior to be a cutting-edge, yet welcoming, jewelry store design.” She said the entry will feature a rainscreen wood system cladding made of “machiche” Brazilian hardwood. Mitchum Jewelers has been in business since 1965.
