Project description: As one of five hotel properties currently under construction in Springfield, O’Reilly Hospitality Management is adding 111 rooms to the market with a northside Holiday Inn Express & Suites. It’s going up next door to the company’s Macadoodles store and Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchise at the northwest corner of Interstate 44 and Glenstone Avenue. The 5.8-acre property is owned by Glen44 Investments LLC, which is managed by O’Reilly Hospitality CEO Tim O’Reilly. The site previously housed a Budget Lodge that was demolished in 2011. Contractors say the hotel is designed with a roughly 1,500-square-foot meeting space, an indoor pool and fitness center. Upon completion, it’ll be O’Reilly Hospitality’s fifth hotel in the city. Meanwhile, O’Reilly Hospitality also is building a convention center to connect its new Fairfield Inn and DoubleTree properties at Glenstone Avenue and Kearney Street.
Missouri State University’s science building, built in 1971 and formerly called Temple Hall, is being reconstructed and updated.
