The former home of Buckingham Smokehouse Bar-B-Q in north Springfield has been demolished.
Springfield Business Journal yesterday observed crews razing the building at 2415 N. Glenstone Ave., at the intersection with Kearney Street.
Greene County assessor records show the owner of the nearly 1-acre lot is O’Reilly Hospitality Management LLC, which also owns the adjacent DoubleTree by Hilton, Glendalough Convention Center and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott.
"We are not sure what we will do with the real estate yet but are considering options," O’Reilly Hospitality CEO Tim O’Reilly said via email.
O’Reilly also is behind plans for a BigShots Golf location kitty-corner to the Buckingham site.
City building permits show Jerry Bumgarner Trucking conducted the demolition work. Owner Jerry Bumgarner also could not be reached by deadline.
An online listing for the parcel posted by Thessing Commercial Realty shows plans for a new 6,900-square-foot retail building on the lot. The listing points to lease offerings for the land and retail. Owner Brad Thessing did not answer a phone call this morning.
It’s unclear when the Buckingham restaurant at the busy intersection closed. Owner Cameron Roy was unavailable this morning at his Ozark Buckingham restaurant. Roy took over ownership of the North Glenstone Buckingham in 2009, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
BuckinghamBBQ.com also lists restaurants on East Sunshine Street and South Campbell Avenue in Springfield, as well as a location in Nixa.
