Executive pay grows at Guaranty Bank

All but one of the top five officers at Guaranty Federal Bancshares Inc. (Nasdaq: GFED) recorded compensation gains in 2018, according to a proxy filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The April 16 filing indicates President and CEO Shaun Burke was the bank’s top-paid executive, with total compensation of $439,490, a 1.8% increase from 2017. His base salary for 2018 grew 1.3% to $314,167.

Below are Guaranty’s top executives, ranked by 2018 total compensation:
• Burke, $439,490, up 1.8%;
• Robin Robeson, chief operating officer, $313,662, up 8.8%;
• Carter Peters, chief financial officer, $293,968, up 7.4%;
• Sheri Biser, chief credit officer, $252,013, up 2%; and
• Charles Puls, chief lending officer, $235,739, down 4.6%, mostly due to a 27% percent lower bonus, according to the SEC filing.

Guaranty Federal Bancshares, the Springfield-based operator of Guaranty Bank, is scheduled to deliver its first-quarter earnings results tomorrow, said spokeswoman Carlye Wannenmacher.

GFED shares were trading at $23.92 as of 9:32 a.m., compared with a 52-week range of $20.11 to $27.39.
