Efactory considers expansion

The Efactory is in the early stages of exploring an expansion into the second floor of Missouri State University’s downtown Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center.

Rachel Anderson, director of the downtown business incubator, said about 16,000 square feet of unused space on the second floor may be converted into private offices, conference rooms and training areas.

“We are in the early exploratory phase and are working to identify costs and funding sources,” she said via email.

MSU’s cooperative engineering program occupies 50,000 square feet upstairs at the 405 N. Jefferson Ave. building, Anderson said. MSU last summer added mechanical engineering and “did an initial buildout of offices, lab space and classrooms upstairs,” a process that’s nearing completion, she added.

“We are exploring the feasibility of an Efactory expansion upstairs at the same time so that construction can happen concurrently,” Anderson said.

The Efactory expansion would come after nearly two years of its private offices being fully occupied.
