Drury University made an out-of-state hire for its new executive vice president for development and comprehensive campaign director.
Amy Amason, who comes to Springfield by way of Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia, where she’s been vice president for institutional advancement since 2013, takes on the newly created role at Drury on Nov. 26. She’ll report to Drury President Tim Cloyd and work with Executive Vice President for Advancement Wayne Chipman, according to a news release.
“Amy has a long and successful track record running comprehensive fundraising campaigns both inside and outside of higher education settings,” Cloyd said in the release. “She knows how to engage alumni and donors and mobilize volunteers in truly meaningful ways. We’re excited to bring her to Drury as we continue to build on the incredible momentum of the last two years.”
At Drury, Amason will lead a fundraising team that in the last fiscal year doubled donations and pledges to nearly $21 million, school officials say.
“The university’s leadership, faculty, staff and alumni are all truly dynamic, and have done incredible work recently to build momentum and define the road ahead,” Amason said in the release.
Chipman and Vice President for Stewardship Judy Thompson will continue to work on planned and principal donations.
All three are central to a 25-year master plan the university announced early this year. The school is searching for donors to fund the potential addition of 700,000 square feet of space to campus, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
