Springfield-based 3-D design consultancy D3 Technologies penned its third acquisition in less than a year.

D3 agreed to buy the Autodesk division of Grandville, Michigan-based JVH Engineering Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in a news release. D3 President Kevin Schlack said the acquisition consists of about 15 percent of an estimated $30 million in 2018 revenue.

The division joins D3 as JVH CAD Solutions, serving clients in Michigan and northern Indiana. Its team, including General Manager Rick VanWort, also are coming on board with D3. D3 resells Autodesk Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ADSK) 3-D engineering software to manufacturers, often with customizations, and provides training to assist clients in utilizing the complex software.

“One of the most important factors in making this decision was ongoing client support and consistency,” said Kathleen Jacobitz, president of JVH Engineering, in the release. “It is evident to me that D3’s success comes from a similar approach to ours, making me confident in this transition.”

Last May, D3 bought roughly half of Wisconsin-based MasterGraphics Inc. in a move that nearly doubled the size of D3. It followed up in November with the buyout of Springfield’s Brian J Mills Engineering LLC.
