College of the Ozarks President Jerry Davis was invited to attend a roundtable discussion with President Donald Trump.
Davis accepted the invite to participate in the March 14 panel in St. Louis. The attendees — representing employers who gave employees bonuses related to U.S. tax reform — are slated to talk about economic development with Trump, according to a news release. It’s unclear who else was invited to participate in the roundtable discussion at Boeing’s St. Louis plant, though Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley and other Republican politicians are expected to be in attendance, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
College of the Ozarks delivered a $204 bonus to all full-time, permanent employees in January as a result of expected savings from the tax law changes. The company had 419 total employees as of April 17, 2017, for Springfield Business Journal’s list of the area’s largest higher learning institutions. A C of O spokeswoman was unable to confirm the number of employees who received bonuses by deadline.
“The tax revisions help the economy,” Davis said in the release. “They helped us project some savings in our budget, so we decided to pass those savings along.”
Two college employees are scheduled to travel with Davis to tell their stories about receiving the bonuses.
A peer in the Branson area also is participating in federal discussions this week.
