Blog: Which c-store has the cleanest bathrooms in Missouri?

Posted online

During road trips, travelers tend to become more aware than usual of the cleanliness of convenience station bathrooms.

I know when my family makes a trip this summer to Arizona, I’ll be keeping an eye out for the c-stores listed in a report released this week by GasBuddy.com.

So, which company has the cleanest bathrooms in Missouri?

It’s QuikTrip, according to a compilation of customer reviews analyzed by GasBuddy officials. QuikTrip captured the most No. 1 rankings in the country, leading bathroom cleanliness in seven states.

For the analysis that examined data between September 2016 and April 2018, brands needed to operate at least 20 c-stores in a state.

“We all understand the high level of stress when it comes to needing to use the restroom while on the road. According to our research, more than half of consumers said that a clean restroom is mandatory when considering where to stop,” said Frank Beard, convenience store and retail trends analyst at GasBuddy, in a news release.

Take a look at the map above from GasBuddy. It should help chart the cleanest route on your next road trip.

A few interesting tidbits jumped out at me:
    •    Kum & Go, which is making tens of millions of dollars worth of investments in Springfield via c-store transformations, leads in Arkansas. However, in Kum & Go’s home state of Iowa, Cenex wins the cleanest bathroom contest.
    •    QuikTrip also had the cleanest bathrooms in two states that border Missouri: Kansas and Oklahoma. It also operates the cleanest bathrooms in Arizona, which is an important personal note for my upcoming travels.
    •    Wawa, which I hadn’t heard of until now, dominates several states in the Northeast, as well as Florida.
    •    Texas-based Buc-ee’s led the state. Buc-ee’s was only No. 1 in Texas, but according to GasBuddy, it jumped to the top of the list with the highest-rated c-store bathrooms nationwide. The reason? It only operates in Texas.

The summer travel season is here. Buckle up and stay clean.
