BKD moves up on Vault Accounting 50

Springfield-based BKD LLP is the 30th best accounting firm to work for in the U.S., according to an industry report released this morning.

BKD moved up a spot on the 2019 Vault Accounting 50. Employer ranking and review website Vault.com surveyed more than 8,200 accountants, asking them to rate their own firms on metrics such as culture, hours, compensation and work/life balance, according to a news release.

Employees lauded BKD for its employment and promotion opportunities, the ability to work independently and a feeling that their opinions count. Its ranking was adversely affected by employees who were critical of the company’s compensation adjustments, fee pressures and tenure system.

The top five firms on Vault’s annual list maintained their ranking from the previous year: No. 1 PricewaterhouseCoopers, followed by Deloitte, KPMG LLP, Grant Thornton LLP and BDO USA LLP.

BKD separately ranks No. 10 on Vault’s list of the best accounting firms for forensic accounting and No. 12 for best accounting firms for audit and assurance.

BKD last year ranked No. 12 on Inside Public Accounting’s list of the top U.S. firms, based on revenue. BKD reported net revenue of $594.6 million. Another Springfield public accounting firm, KPM CPAs PC, recorded net revenue of $15.7 million to rank No. 228 on the 2018 list.
