Big Whiskey’s recently opened its second standalone restaurant.
The Overland Park, Kansas, restaurant had a soft opening June 26. The 100-employee eatery scheduled a grand opening on July 20, according to a news release.
Following its first standalone restaurant that opened in Republic last year, Big Whiskey’s operators moved to purchase the Overland Park property in November. Shawnee, Kansas-based A.R.C. General Contracting started construction in March on what’s billed as Big Whiskey’s largest investment to date.
Financial terms were not included in the release, and a spokeswoman could not be reached for comment by deadline.
“It’s exciting to be at the finish line for this store,” said Paul Sundy, co-founder and senior vice president of operations for Big Whiskey’s, in the release. “We’ve been able to add a lot of cool elements, new things that our other locations don’t have, and we’re really excited to share it with the Overland Park community.”
The restaurant incorporates cultural elements from the Kansas City metropolitan area market, including 20 beers on tap, many from local manufacturers including Boulevard Brewing Co. and KC Bier Co.
The Overland Park Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand opening on July 20, according to the release.
In addition to its three Springfield restaurants and one in Republic, Big Whiskey’s also operates corporate-owned and franchise locations in Branson, Ozark, Lee’s Summit and Bentonville, Arkansas. Two other restaurants in Las Vegas and Birmingham, Alabama, are scheduled to open later this year, according to the company’s website.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
