Atrium Hospitality promotes former JQH managers locally

Posted online

Alpharetta, Georgia-based Atrium Hospitality LP made two local promotions impacting the company’s four hotels in Springfield.

Former John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts employees Michael Bloom and Chris Ruble were promoted to area general manager and regional director of sales and marketing, respectively, according to a news release.

“Chris and Michael are exemplary managers that inspire excellence, both in the workplace and in their active involvement in the community,” said Daniel Abernethy, president of Atrium Hospitality, in the release. “It is rewarding to promote from within our organization, as we create highly collaborative, productive teams. Both individuals have deep hospitality roots in the Springfield area.”

Together, Bloom and Ruble oversee 398 rooms and suites at Holiday Inn Express & Suites downtown, Residence Inn on the south side and Courtyard by Marriott near the Springfield-Branson National Airport. Bloom continues to serve as general manager of the 188-room Holiday Inn, and Ruble maintains her role as director of sales and marketing for the 267-room University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center.

“It’s an exciting time in Springfield, as demand continues to evolve,” Ruble said in the release. “Michael and I are strong believers in the value of mentoring, and our properties’ close proximity to top-notch educational institutions provides access to a wealth of up-and-coming talent.”

Atrium Hospitality this summer took over management of late hotelier John Q. Hammons’ hotels and resorts, including the four in Springfield.

The transition is part of a larger bankruptcy case through which Atrium Hospitality owner JD Holdings LLC purchased the assets of Hammons’ estate for roughly $1 billion.
