Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based Silver Airways canceled its planned Aug. 30 debut at Branson Airport.

The airline cited a delay in the certification process overseen by the Federal Aviation Administration related to the company’s new line of ATR turboprops aircraft. Silver Airways officials indicated the certification process will not be completed in time to start service in Branson this fall, according to a news release.

“We were disappointed to learn of the news of the ATR certification delay,” said Jeff Bourk, executive director of the Branson Airport, in the release. “As we work with Silver Airways during this period of adjustment, normal operations continue with Frontier Airlines and Via Airlines at the Branson Airport.”

The airline is now working with the airport to issue refunds to customers.

Silver Airways in March announced plans to start service at Branson Airport. Bourk said Branson Airport and Silver Airways are working together on any potential future service.

“We want to make sure that there’s a definitive date that the aircraft is viable and operating, and we’ll work with Silver to make that decision,” he said.

The airline was slated to enter Branson Airport offering daily flights to New Orleans International Airport, Houston’s Intercontinental Airport and Chicago’s O'Hare International Airport.

Denver-based Frontier Airlines Airlines re-entered the Branson market this summer.
