2017 40 Under 40 Honoree: Danny Perches, 27

Danny Perches dishes out assists on a regular basis. The Springfield native helps 150 businesses one-on-one through the Springfield chamber’s business retention and expansion program, and he supports startups through leadership in the Spin 66 innovation summit, the Go Big Pitch competition and The eFactory’s accelerator program. You can say he’s got quite a reach. “Instead of working for one company, I get to work for all of the companies in the Springfield region on a daily basis,” he says. He’s one of the younger 40 Under 40 honorees, and last month welcomed his and his wife’s first youngster.

What was your first job? Bilingual teller at Great Southern Bank

What is your theme song? “Uptown Funk,” by Bruno Mars

When did you realize you had grown up? When we moved into our new home because bills.

What do you miss most about the 1990s? Saturday morning cartoons – the good ones – gel pens, bowl cuts, denim jackets.

What did you learn the hard way? In graduate school I learned the importance of tailoring your messaging based on who you are talking to. We all have our own acronyms and code language in our professions and it’s important to be cognizant of that.

How many unread messages are in your inbox right now? Zero, my OCD doesn’t allow me to have any unread messages.  

What was your professional “aha” moment? Being viewed as a thought leader in the world of economic development.
