112-room hotel planned near busy intersection

Bryan Properties LLC is bringing another hotel to Springfield.

The company, which in June announced plans for a Tru by Hilton at 525 E. Elm St., expects to break ground in summer 2019 on a Staybridge Suites west of the Battlefield Road and National Avenue intersection, according to a news release. 

Through Bryan Hotels Management LLC, the Staybridge Suites is planned with 112 beds, a sports court, indoor pool and an outdoor space with a fire pit. The release did not provide the address, square footage or expected completion date for the hotel, and Bryan Properties Chief Financial Officer Brad Gebhard could not be reached for comment by deadline this morning.

A Greene County recorder filing shows Bryan Properties on Dec. 6 took over the warranty deed for a 2.7-acre property at 1031 E. Battlefield Road from Branson Retail Investments LLC. The property is less than half a mile from the busy intersection Bryan Properties cited in the release.

The 1031 E. Battlefield property was previously home to the Courtyard Office Center, which was demolished in 2016 following a vote the previous year by Springfield City Council to rezone the acreage to general retail from an office district, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. It’s remained vacant ever since.

For its Tru Hotel, Bryan Hotels expects to open the $6.6 million, four-story, 90-room lodging facility in August 2019, SBJ previously reported. Bryan Hotels also operates two Hampton Inns in Branson, according to the release.

Staybridge Suites is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group portfolio, which also includes Holiday Inn and Candlewood Suites, according to its website.
